I hope your daughter gets well soon@Soulmonster wrote:A well-deserved beer after spending five hours at the hospital with a daughter with a broken wrist, then Christmas shopping before preparing this year's "lammerull" (lamb's meat with spices stuffed into a lamb pouch then in bribe for ten days and cooked).

It's always interesting to learn about the traditional Christmas dishes in each country. Ours is either stuffed turkey or pork.

Thanks. She is quite bored from having to wear the cast but otherwise all is back to normal.
The "lammerull" is usually eaten together with bread for breakfasts, lunches and so on. It is quite strong in flavour due to the spices, so we slice it thin and use it as spread. Preparing it is my tradition, and marks the start of the Advent period.
The traditional Christmas food (julemat) varies form region to region here in Norway. Pork is very common, especially the side of the pork with skin intact, roasted in the oven for many hours so the skin gets crisp. Then we have lab ribs that have been dried and occasionally smoked. These are damped for many hours, usually over branches of birch. In the Southern coastal parts, cod is also common.

That was quite Lovecraftian in its gloomy darkness. I like it!
