That's crazy!
I did just the exact same thing a few weeks ago, went looking online about him

Seems like a very gifted songwriter.
I found him via Andy McCoy/Hanoi Rocks. It is truly insane the amount of (good, very good and great) music connected to Andy and Hanoi (including, of course indirectly, GN'R)
You probably know that Rene was in Hanoi Rocks for a very short time in 1985. They recorded some cool demos with René, but the band was falling apart and apparently they didn't like him so that was over fast.
But the real fun begins when Rene and Nasty Suicide (from Hanoi) formed West End Central -- soon renamed to "Soho Vultures" (as you probably read on the "Remembering" piece)
I just found out about Soho Vultures about a month ago. Hard to find their music online, they never released a full album officially. I found these nice demos = https://nikart2018.blogspot.com/2020/01/soho-vultures-1987-demos.html
Then Rene Berg recorded his solo album with Soho Vultures songs and more. Also hard to find. Here it is with some bonus= https://nikart2018.blogspot.com/2021/06/1992-rene-berg-leather-loneliness-and.html

They are well known by a certain rock crowd here in Greece (most of the uploads of songs by them on youtube are by Greeksludurigan wrote:

There was an indie label here in the '80s and '90s that signed local bands, but also imported albums from various indie labels around the world, including Australia. This one was even played at some rock clubs.

I watched the Elvis movie. Not as great as I expected it to be based on the reviews, but quite good.

Oddly enough, I first became familiar with this song through Nick Cave's rendition back in the '80s.

Re: The 'What are you listening to?' thread
it took me a few weeks to enjoy this song but now it keeps growing on me, i love when it happens
it was only when I started to enjoy the song that I decided to read online about it and was very surprised to find that this is actually a cover from a motown song by diana ross and marvin gaye!

pretty crazy how software (?) for isolating vocals and musical instruments has gone a long way
you tube has been flooded by "instrumental" versions of songs

For the nerds out there: amusing satire of Wlecome to the Jungle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUpYPvYADS8
Theme of the video: GN’R guitar-god Slash shows up for his first (and last) day of work as a university administrator.
