Many thanks to @troccoli for sharing this with us, and for the amazing collection of GN'R memorabilia he has made available on his site. The original images of the newsletter (accompanied also by Geffen's press release for the release of Appetite for Destruction and newspaper clippings) can be found on his site here:

Newsletter

The Guns n Roses fan club Conspiracy has now been taken over by Fan Line! We are ready to keep you, the fans informed about the bands activities. You’re probably anxious for more news about Guns n Roses and now we’re ready to serve you. For the fan club members who joined around July, we haven’t forgotten you. We’ll be sure to send all of your mailings. Thanks for your Patience.

History of Guns n Roses

Axl and Izzy are both originally from Indiana. Izzy Stradlin left ten years ago and wound up in Los Angeles. Axl soon followed. He moved to Los Angeles and joined Izzy in 1980. The two formed a band called Hollywood Rose. They tried breaking into the local club curcuit but could not build a following and the band dissolved.

Slash and Steven Adler grew up together in Hollywood where they were childhood friends. Slash’s parents were involved in the music industry. His mother was a clothes designer for bands and his father an album cover artist. When they became interested in forming a band, they placed an ad in the newspaper for a bass player. The ad was answered by a recent immigrant from Seattle, Washington named Duff Mc Kagan. The three piece band was not quite complete enough though and they began the search for a vocalist.

Axl and Izzy decided to make a move upward in life, so they moved to West Hollywood. This is where they were discovered by Slash, Steven and Duff. The new band needed a name: Guns n Roses seemed perfect. In the beginning, the band did everything together. For several months they lived and practiced in the same room. Life was not easy for them. They lived from day to day in the classic image of rock n roll. The band developed its original attitude, lifestyle and music. Many people began identifying with this band of “deliquents”. With increased interest the band began selling out shows at the local clubs. As Guns n Roses sold out more and more shows, the record companies became interested.

Guns n Roses has been very self sufficient as a group. The band didn’t have any management so they decided to strike their own record deal. They didn’t want anyone else making a deal for their future. Talk about independence!

Accomplishments

Since the album Appetite For Destruction was released, the band has gone on many major tours. The band had its first big exposure opening for The Cult. Several bands that Guns n Roses played with include, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden and Aerosmith. The band finished a tour in Japan, New Zealand and Australia and then took a month off to recooperate. Last month, Guns n Roses appeared on The American Music Awards and played the song “Patience”. Not only did the band get to perform, but won an award for the category of favorite heavy metal artist. I’m sure we’ll see Guns and Roses winning more awards in the future.

Current Activities

The band has just completed filming a video of “Patience”. The video has life footage of the band while utilizing a sub plot about Axls vision of what “Patience” really means. We don’t have much more information about the video but we’re sure it will be hot! MTV first aired it on March 22nd. Be sure to vot for it on “Dial MTV”. The phone number is 1-(800) DIAL-MTV (342-5688). You can also write MTV Networks, 1775 Broadway, New York, NY 10019.

Great news! Guns n Rose is back in the studio recording songs for a new album. Rumor has it the album is similar to Appetite For Destruction. Currently they are in pre-production, but the album should be completed in July and released in late September.
