NEVER MIND THE BOLOGNESE!
Guns N’ Roses reveal ‘The Spaghetti Incident’, plus Adler reaps $2.5 million!
GUNS N’ ROSES finally release their celebrated Punk covers album on November 23.
Titled ‘The Spaghetti Incident', the album has changed considerably since tracks were originally recorded during the sessions for GN’R's twin ‘Use Your Illusion’ albums.
The record no longer features original Guns guitarist Izzy Stradlin. Stradlin’s parts have been rerecorded by his replacement Gilby Clarke.
'The Spaghetti Incident' has also grown from an EP to a full-length album, yet the biggest difference is in content. The record is no longer solely devoted to Punk, and even features a cover of a song by '50s rock 'n' rollers The Skyliners!
Despite the proximity of the album's release date, the band have been keeping very quiet about ‘The Spaghetti Incident'; so much so that in LA, it was rumoured that Guns had covered a song written by notorious incarcerated drug cult leader Charles Manson! However, a band spokesman has now confirmed that the rumour is untrue.
Tracks set to appear on the record are Nazareth's ‘Hair Of The Dog', T-Rex's ‘Buick MacKane', UK Subs' ‘Down On The Farm', Fear's ‘I Don’t Care About You’, The Dead Boys' ‘Ain’t It Fun’, The Damned's ‘New Rose’, The Skyliners’ ‘Since I Don’t Have You’ and two songs by The Stooges, ‘Down On The Street’ and ‘Raw Power'.
Meanwhile, Guns N' Roses' court battle with original drummer Steven Adler has finally been resolved, two years after Adler filed a lawsuit accusing the band of cheating him of royalty money.
It is reported that when Guns N’ Roses formed, all members were officially made equal partners. However, when Adler appeared unwilling or unable to cure his heroin addiction, he was placed on 'employee status' for a 30-day probationary period, in an unsuccessful attempt to cure his addiction. Adler effectively lost his stake in the band.
The judge appeared sympathetic to Adler's claim that he had been robbed of his rights to part-ownership of the name Guns N' Roses. In a shock move, the judge actually considered holding a public auction of the band's name to determine its worth!
At this stage, the various lawyers and management representatives agreed on a settlement of S2.5 million being awarded to Adler. The sum comprised S2.3 million from the band, $150,000 from former manager Alan Niven and $50,000 from Guns N’ Roses’ current manager Doug Goldstein. Adler accepted the payment hours before the case would have been taken before a jury.
Adler is said to be “very pleased” with the settlement. The drummer is now believed to be putting together a new band and pursuing a record deal.
