There's a chance that it's one or two shows off - as there might be a couple of early shows that we're missing and, on the other hand, it's possible that a couple of other shows in our list didn't happen - but it's definitely close to 1000.

Most likely it is a couple of shows off, but it is as close as we can get.

I talked to Beta who told Axl, I told Richard, and I tweeted about it and hashtagged all of them.

Wow I didn't imagine you have direct access to these guys.
By "talking" you mean on the phone? Via e-mail? Personally?
I have about 1987 requests to these guys and right now I am thinking to myself: "Should I ask SoulMonster to ask Beta to ask Axl to redo the mix of Ritz 1991? Or should I be bold and ask SoulMonster to ask Beta to ask Axl to get Izzy back in the band?"
Oh, and please don't ever become Jarmo, that is a very important thing that you can not forget.
Oh, and one more thing, I still can't tell if you are joking or being serious

I interviewed Richard some years back and since then I have had his contact information. I don't know from where I got Beta's email address. And hashtagging people on twitter is just part of that technology. I don't know if they even see my tweet. Anyway, Beta said she told Axl so at least Axl is aware of it. Still, it is just approximately 1000 shows. There is a possibility there are some unknown shows, and a smaller possibility that some of the shows we have in the database never actually happened. And then comes how we define a show, is it a show if it is a gig to just record a new music video (even if they play some additional songs for a selected audience), or if they play at a fraternity party, or if they are part of a larger lineup celebrating Freddie Mercury? I suppose to some extent this is subjective and others might conclude differently than what I have done.
No point in asking me to ask them anything Besides, they are so active on social media that it is easy for anyone to ask them anything. They will most likely ignore you.
And no, I have no plans of giving up my current life for trailing a rock and roll band around the world.

Good to know!
Axl's 998th because in 1988 he didn't sing at the second Irvine show.
But, yes, it could be the Axl's 999th because the band played a gig in March 14, 1986 at Raji's not listed here, neither in gnrontour and Reckless Road book:
This mag belongs to Tim Troccoli.
So, the Chile'22 gig was the 1000th of the GN'R!

I haven't considered the June 9, 1988, show at Irvine Meadows as a GN'R show. GN'R was off the tour by then and as far as I know, the rest of the band only played a couple of songs. But this is a good example of the subjectivity of this.
Great find on that poster! I will look more into this later (about to board a plane now).

The listing in L.A. Weekly (March 13-20, 1986) doesn't mention GN'R though, so they probably didn't play eventually:

Hope you had a safe travel, Soulmonster!
That Irvine gig was the last opening for Iron Maiden. Later on that night Slash and Steven joined the chorus part in "Heaven Can Wait" at Maiden's set. So, howeverthless the Axl's absence and just a couple of songs played, I think that gig was a GN'R gig.
I agree.
The issue of "No Shit" magazine that the ad appeared was published in March, 7th. Probably GN'R was replaced by The Mutts.
On the same mag has a list of the bands (the same of the ad):
Another magazine, "Scratch", from March but probably before March 7h, don't list Imperiet also, but shows GN'R name:

Re: 2022.10.08 - Estadio San Marcos, Lima, Peru
Since we're at the early shows:
1. The case of the Lipstick Fixx/The Galaxy Stage on November 14, 1985 (included in the history section but not in the concert database):
https://www.a-4-d.com/t4937-05-june-december-1985-local-fame#18930
https://www.a-4-d.com/t4084-1985-11-22-l-a-weekly-l-a-dee-da-on-the-streets-mention-of-police-raid-at-show
It's unclear if the police raid took place before the band started playing or after, so maybe it should be added in the concert database.
2. I still think that there's enough evidence that there was a show on Feb. 1, 1986 at Timbers Ballroom (not at the Troubadour, like gnrontour says). See here for details:
https://www.a-4-d.com/t3130p60-xx-notes#15407
This show is not included either in the history section or in our concert database.
3. On the other hand, the Music Machine benefit show on March 23, 1986 (which I'd found an ad for in L.A. Weekly and therefore has been included in both our concert database and history section) was cancelled, according to Marc Canter:
https://www.a-4-d.com/t4942-06-january-december-1986-getting-signed#18945
https://www.a-4-d.com/t3853-1986-03-23-music-machine-los-angeles-ca-usa#
https://www.a-4-d.com/t3130p90-xx-notes#15865
4. The Starwood on Jan. 26, 1986, which most likely didn't happen (this show is not included in the history section anyway and there is mention of the likelihood of it not having happened in the concert thread).
