Guns N' Roses: In L.A. we distrust
To look at the way he carries himself, both on and off stage, you'd imagine that Guns N' Roses' mouthpiece W. Axl Rose was custom made to live in a concrete jungle like L.A. Surprisingly, Rose begs to differ.
"I don't cope with things very easily," explains the Lafayette. Indiana-born frontman. "And it took me a while to get a grasp on L.A. When I first came out here. I couldn't get hired for anything except telephone sales, and I'm shitty at that.
"The people in L.A. didn't know what to make of me, either," he continues. "They thought I was a hippie, which I thought was funny, because in the midwest I was considered a punk rocker."
Did Rose learn anything of value from his early days in the City of Angels? "Yeah," he deadpans, "I've learned not to trust anyone. You don't and you won't have as many problems."
