SLASH LANDS SLOT ON AC/DC TOUR

ARCHIVE-ROB-MANCINI
07/14/2000

When AC/DC hits the road next month, the band will have some major guitar-slinging support in the opening slot courtesy of former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash.

The top-hatted guitar whiz and his outfit Slash's Snakepit have been tapped as the opening act for AC/DC's U.S. tour, which kicks off on August 1.

"I can't wait, are you kidding me?" Slash said when asked about the tour. "Just getting (our new) record done and having it come out, but then getting the chance to play with AC/DC, that's like one of my all-time favorite bands, so I'm really excited about it."

Despite his relentless playing both with Guns N' Roses and as a hired gun, Slash notes, "I'm totally star-struck by this thing. I've seen them a million times, but I've never played with them. I've never even met them actually."

Slash and his band will be making the rounds in support of "Ain't Life Grand," an album that he first recorded for Interscope Records, but has since been wrestled back by the guitarist. "Ain't Life Grand" will now hit stores on October 10 courtesy of Koch Records.

Earlier article from Billboard, June 30, 2000, about Slash signing with Koch Records:
Slash Signs To Koch

Koch Records has signed former Guns 'N' Roses guitarist Slash, industrial rock band Stabbing Westward, and former Onyx rapper Fredro Starr (also known as Firestarr). Slash, whose only post GNR release was the 1995 album "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" under the Slash's Snakepit banner for Geffen, is expected to release an as-yet-officially-untitled album in late September.

"It's so nice to be working with people that care about what I care about: making good music, having a good time, and just getting it out there," Slash said in a statement about signing to Koch. Produced by Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, Alice Cooper), the completed album includes vocalist Rod Jackson, drummer Matt Laug, guitarist Kerry Kelly, and bassist Johnny Blackout.

Slash, who has also been asked to contribute to Rod Stewart's upcoming album, will hit the road with his band beginning Aug. 1 in support of AC/DC.
