Stradlin quits Guns N' Roses LUS ANGELES (AP) — Rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin has ended his 15-year association with W. Axl Rose and left the hard-driving rock band Guns N' Roses, Rose says.

The band and Stradlin were going in separate directions and he's not really into touring or video or anything like that," Rose, the band's leader, said in a statement released Thanksgiving Day by Geffen Records.

"Slash (lead guitarist) and I are the ones figuring out the direction Guns N' Roses is going and Izzy's not really a part of that anymore," said Rose.

"Izzy and I have been together 15 years so its kind of a shock to my system," he said.

Gilby Clarke of the band Kill for Thrills will replace Stradlin and join Guns N' Roses on the band's upcoming tour, the Geffen statement said.

Rose said few rock hands remain intact with their original members and said Guns N' Roses is "evolving."

"We're happy where we're going," he said.

Efforts to get Stradlin's side of the story were not immediately successful. Geffen spokeswoman Bryn Bridenthal was off Thursday for the holiday and no further details were expected, a answering service operator for Geffen records said.
