Geffen Records has a new reason to be mad as hell at Axl Rose. When Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash came to Axl with some great riffs for a new GNR album last year, the squawker turned up his nose. So Slash went on to record them as a solo album with Snake Pit, released 11 weeks ago.
Despite lots of press and a full tour, however, the album has bombed big-time, falling out of the Top 200 after just six weeks, selling a feeble 77,000 copies so far.
If Geffen packaged the exact same music with the GNR logo it would have sold twice that many copies in the first day. In other words, welcome to the bungle.
