A reformed Guns N' Roses will play at Coachella festival this year!

STRONGLY suggesting they are part of the new Guns N' Roses.

In addition to Axl, Slash and Duff, Chris has posted that he will be there. I have also seen people congratulating Frank with the gig.

One would assume Dizzy is there as well. Richard has implied he is still in the band, in addition it is being speculated that Dave Kushner, from Velvet Revolver is in. This sounds a bit dubious to me, but who knows with GN'R.

Yeah, many people find it "strange" that there will (probably) be Frank or Richard in a "reformed" line-up, but I got to say to me Kushner would feel "stranger"...

I agree. I don't see this as a reunion, really, just some old guys coming inn to fill some empty places.

What I am curious now, is whether they will go for two guitars (Slash and Richard) or three guitars (Slash, Richardand unknown). With only two guitars it will be harder to play some songs from CD. I know many fans don't want them to play songs from CD, but why else would Chris be in the lineup if not to add sounds using his wobbly keyboard to CD songs?

Dave Kushner would not make any sense. Keeping Pittman also surprises me but I guess that's indeed for CD songs.

I'm very interested in how they brand it: a reunion or indeed the return of Slash and Duff in the band. Quite a difference.

Well, the press release (see other thread about Slash & Duff) says:

Founder Axl Rose and former members Slash and Duff McKagan will regroup to headline the Coachella...

It is branded as a "reform" rather than a "reunion", suggesting Slash and Duff return to the band, rather than Axl, Slash and Duff all coming together again. This is pure semantics, but such slight differences in wordings may be deliberate and meaningful. It strengthens Axl's story that they left the band and he has kept it rolling since then, and now they have decided to join again, rather than the alternative story where the band collapsed and is now put together again. I don't know how much thoughts we should put into this, though

Exactly. Thus Axl can always say "his" version of the band was "real" (which it was to me) and CD was a "regular" GN'R album (which it was to me anyway, but maybe not for some old-time fans). Keeping some members from the latest tour (Richard, Frank, Dizzy and Pitman) will add to this. (Maybe they'll play a few CD songs too?)

As much as possible! At the moment there is not much else to do anyway!

I hope they will play some CD songs! I would love to hear Slash's take on Better and some of the ballads. Not so sure about There Was A Time. That song, and especislly the end solo is very iconic to me, if Slash can't play it true to its original -- which both doubt ha can and will -- then maybe best leave it alone?

Many fans are saying that if they play CD songs then they should play VR songs, too. I don't really agree wih the logic behind that. CD songs are from GN'R, VR songs would be cover. Anyway, I wouldn't mind hearing Axl's take on some of the VR songs.

I am pretty mch up for anthing that is new and refreshing. Anything but only AFD and UYI songs!

Totally agree.

And while doing VR songs would be strange I think some could be pretty killer with Axl on vocals. Fall to Pieces for instance.
