From the Arizona Republic, July 17, 1988:

Andrew Means wrote:[...]
$16,000 contribution
Guns N’ Roses, a Los Angeles band, raised $16,000 for charity at its sold-out shows last weekend at the Celebrity Theatre.
Guns decided to make it a charity affair to make amends to fans for canceling two Phoenix shows earlier this year, promoter Dan Zelisko said.
It didn’t hurt that the group left the choice of charity to Zelisko, who chose the Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s Cancer Center. Zelisko’s stepdaughter, Abigail, died of leukemia two years ago.
