Re: 2012.01.DD - NBA.com - Interview with Tommy
Well that interview was fun.
I had a ticket to see Tommy solo in Boston last August on the eve of the new album's release (and it was my Birthday) and he needed to cancel due to Hurricane Irene. I was bent on buying the album at the show and hopefully getting it signed. I got to see him with Mike Gent on second guitar in the same club the previous February - I was 10 feet from the stage and got to hear acoustic versions of the song One Man Mutiny and two other songs off of the new album. Tommy and Mike were quite the comedy duo too. I had a blast. Whatever Guns is up to is titillating to say the least and it would be nice if Tommy made it to Boston solo again to make up for that cancelled show. The plot thickens.

A longer excerpt from this interview in Ultimate Classic Rock, Jan. 23, 2012:

Guns N’ Roses Plan ‘Big Stuff’ for the Future, Says Tommy Stinson
Having recently wrapped up a triumphant return to U.S. soil with a slew of arena dates, Guns N' Roses bassist Tommy Stinson says that the band's forthcoming activity will find them engaging in “big stuff” that will be exciting for GN'R fans.
A noted basketball fan, Stinson found time to catch a Philadelphia 76ers game last week, and reporter Matt Cord caught up with him to talk about his b-ball love, promotional plans for his new solo album and what's next on deck for Guns N' Roses.
So what is next? Stinson was coy with his answer and said, “I can't say officially, but we're leaving again in two weeks. We're planning some stuff. It's all big stuff. When I call you in two weeks and tell you, you're gonna go, 'I wanna come!' It's gonna be awesome though.”
What might that "big stuff" be? Within the world of Axl Rose, it could be a lot of things. Guitarist DJ Ashba said recently that making a new album is at the top of their priority list and he says that he and Axl have been working to compile material for what would be the seventh Guns album and the first with the current lineup.
Stinson told Cord that Ashba has been an important addition to the lineup and he thinks that fans are really responding to him well.
In a posting on his website, Stinson said that the camaraderie on the recent tour was the best that it has been in the 14 years that he has been with the band. He says, “I think we all went home inspired by the possibilities.”
In between his current GN'R commitments, Stinson plans to play some solo shows in support of his new solo album, 'One Man Mutiny,' which is available from his official website. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the disc will be going to help benefit schools in Haiti.
