DUST IN THE WIND
Album:
Unreleased.

Written by:
Todd Rundgren.

Musicians:
Guns N' Roses.

Notes:

Live performances:
As far as we know, 'Dust in the Wind' was played for the first time at Waldstadion, Frankfurt, Germany, on June 25, 1993. In total it has, as of {UPDATEDATE}, been played {DUSTINTHEWINDSONGS} times. It would be used by Axl as an introduction before playing November Rain.
Lyrics:
Tell everybody that I am sorry, truly sorry
For all the wrong I've done
I never meant to hurt nobody, no no
Lord I never want to do no wrong
And I have lied, and I have begged and I have cheated
And I know my ship, it won't be coming in
And as I lay me down to take my rest
I can see that it's just dust in the wind
Take hold my hand, and hold it tighter, ever tighter
You must believe that I love you still
But my strength, it grows weaker, and weaker
And my body has lost its will
'Cause I have lied, and I have begged and I have cheated
And I know my ship, it won't be coming in
And as I lay me down to take my rest
I can see that it's just dust in the wind
Oh Lord, I have lost once again
And there's no one to help me find my way home
Lord and I, Lord I never want to hurt nobody
And I, Lord I never want to do no wrong
'Cause I have lied, and I have begged and I have cheated
And I know my ship, it won't be coming in
And as I lay me down to take my rest
I can see that it's just dust in the wind

I don't think this one is on Live Era.

According to gnrontour, it was played as an intro to November Rain at the following shows in 1993:

1. 1993.06.25 - Waldstadion, Frankfurt, Germany
2. 1993.06.26 - Olympiastadion, Munich, Germany
3. 1993.06.29 - Modena Stadio, Modena, Italy
4. 1993.06.30 - Modena Stadio, Modena, Italy
5. 1993.07.06 - Vicente Calderon Stadium, Madrid, Spain
6. 1993.07.09 - Halle Tony Garnier, Lyon, France
7. 1993.07.11 - Werchter Festival Ground, Werchter, Belgium
8. 1993.07.13 - Palais Omnisports de Bercy, Paris, France
9. 1993.07.17 - Estadio River Plate, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Although it's not mentioned at gnontour, we know from the following interview with Duff that it was also played in Barcelona on July 5, 1993:

[Asked about the song played before November Rain] It's a song by Todd Rundgren. [...] I know nobody has heard of this song. [...] No, no, no [it wasn't a new Guns N' Roses song]. Nobody knew what the hell it was. I looked at the people in the crowd and they were like asking themselves, ‘What is this, a new song?’ [...] I know it's by Todd Rundgren, but the title? No idea.

Gnrontour doesn't include it in any setlist from 1991.

I think the setlist.fm entry for the 1991 show in Salt Lake City is questionable.

Axl would talk about being into Rundgren back in 1989:

Today, my favorite record is Todd Rundgren's Something/Anything. I just got turned on to it. I've still got my favorites and things like the Pistols, ELO and Queen. The two records I always buy if there's a cassette deck around and I don't have the tapes in my bag are Never Mind the Bullocks and Queen II . I think I'd be in a bind to figure out which one I'd want if I was stranded on a desert island. I might go with the Pistols, because maybe a boat would hear me if I played it.

Something/Anything
contains Dust In The Wind.

Oops, that was a copy-paste mistake from It's Alright.

This sounds right, and I said someone else saying it was used during the end of the Skin N' Bones tour, so setlist.fm is likely wrong.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense they would play it once in 1991 and then repeatedly late in 1993.

I have also added it to my database.

Something/Anything contains Dust In The Wind.
Todd Rundgren had commented on this in an interview with The Tennessean, August 20, 1989:

It was played (at least) 10 times in 1993 if we include the mention of it being played at the show in Barcelona in the Duff interview with Popular 1.

Yes, of course. I forgot to add that one. Now it's done.
