Admin to-do list

To make it more transparent what is going on "behind the scene", I'll post my to-do list here. The items are not in priority.

* Finish completing the live show database (currently working on 2007).
* Rename threads in the interview section to make it more browsable and sort it by newest interview first.
* Move some threads from the GN'R discussion section to Side Projects section.
* Fix quote layout in Song database and make song lyrics in italics.
* Add biographies to each member.
* Fix the navigation bar on top so it doesn't blink whenever the roll-over picture is loaded.
* Graphic overhaul!
* Add guest appearances to database and tour stats.
* Change to the new layout on all threads in the song database.
* Change to the new layout on all threads in the show database.

Just finished the interview section

Updated the to-do list. Closing in on completing the concert database with a thread for every gig the band has ever done. Later I will expand on these threads with information on opening acts, attendance numbers, pictures, movies, reviews, and so on.

I have also started to think about a graphic overhaul. Not only fixing the top menu and the failing mouse-over effect, but generally adding more graphics and making the site better-looking while still preserving a simple look.

Added a new item to my list: guest appearances info.

Lots of new features are coming, including a much improved chatbox, some nice direct linking, image pop-up, info on who is reading the various sections, etc

I deleted two of our widgets today to speed up the forum. The ones that had to go were the twitter feed with "guns n' roses" as keyword and Kat's pics. I hope things are speedier now.

Well I won't miss GN'R in the air but I did enjoy Kat's pics for the while it was in. Unless she's on the road with them and frequently posting behind the scenes shots it doesn't make sense to include it in this forum so I understand.

Yeah, that was sort of what I thought, too. And she didn't really post much GN'R related from the last tour.

I removed the "quick reply" option. I wanted to keep it, but for some reason it wouldn't allow the addition of smileys, so until this feature is fixed the whole quick reply feature will remain uninstalled.

I will also make an effort into cleaning up some of our javascripts that occasionally causes errors, at least on my computer. Hopefully this will also make loading pages with many pictures go faster.

Some problems adding a new chat box. Will fix it later.

I am getting close to finishing the gig database!!! . I only have to add a few more 2006 gigs and all of the 2007 gigs and then each and every live show will be included. Then I will fix the format of the 2009/2010 shows and start adding more information to each show (recordings of gigs, reviews, pictures, etc).

Notice that "The Troubadour" is now explained if you move the cursor over the word. I will add more details about it later and expand the underlying dictionary with more words from the world of GN'R.

"mouse roll over" link to info on Troubadour is incredibly cool and a huge undertaking on your part if you get through this site's show threads database.
The U.S. club most interesting to me that GNR also played is CBGB's in NYC and there is video.
The best description I ever read of it's founding and history is in Tommy Womack's book "Cheese Chronicles".

Do you have data for a similar link to CBGB's or would you like me to transcribe the text? It's not much but I am willing to help - and I own and love Tommy's book.

There can never be enough huge undertakings

I'll have such roll-overs on any word that could be of interest to members, not only venues. I'd be happy if you could share some text on CBGB's. IT shouldn't really be much more than what I added for The Troubadour. Thanks!

Finished adding shows from 2006. Only 2007 to go! . All new shows now will have the improved lay-out. When 2007 is finished I will probably continue fixing the lay-out on shows in 2009-2013 before turning my attention to the next task in my to-do list.

Well done, I think this database is a great thing for all completists and other fans who enjoy to look some details up from time to time!

Early stages yet.

I have started adding the shows from the beginning of 2010 to our database - they were missing!

I finally fixed the news widget. It has just displayed results form Facebook and twitter lately, but now it is shows news stories collected from bing (I can't get google rss to work).
