Former Guns N’ Roses Drummer Matt Sorum Sells L.A. Home for $3 Million

Before parting ways with the 1920s Spanish style home, the rock star enlisted designer Ryan Saghian to help renovate it

By Rachel Wallace

Someone in Los Angeles recently acquired a home fit for a rock star. Grammy-winning drummer Matt Sorum, who has played with both Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver, sold his six-bedroom, four-bathroom home for $3 million, not long after he put it on the market.

Sorum and his wife are relocating to Palm Springs, but the new owners of their former residence will be inheriting a 3,966-square-foot space that still oozes their style. Before deciding to sell, the couple renovated the space with the help of designer Ryan Saghian. The kitchen, in particular, was seriously overhauled, and today boasts a black-and-white geometric floor, Dacor appliances, a custom Modern Aire range hood, knurled hardware, and a black marble island.

Built in 1929, the Spanish-style home features many details that remain true to its original architectural style, like its white stucco exterior and terra-cotta roof tiles, exposed wood beams, arched doorways, and a living room fireplace with a mantel of what appears to be white plaster. There are, of course, more modern and eclectic touches to be found in the home, like the wallpaper in the main suite's bathroom, which features a repeating pattern of the faces from late Italian artist Piero Fornasetti's “Tema e Variazioni” series.

Also on the property: a guest house which has been converted into a music studio, a koi pond, and a red-tiled walkway leading from the front gate to the front entrance.
