Guns N' Roses at Tottenham: Appalling sound, support acts cancelled and fans walking out early - how everything went wrong

One fan couldn't even tell what songs Guns N' Roses were singing because the sound was so 'appalling'

By Kieran Kelly

Guns N' Roses fans have been left disappointed after the rock band's concerts were marred by a series of delays, cancellations and sound issues. The band played two concerts on Friday and Saturday this weekend at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London - the first ever concerts hosted by the venue.

Sam Willis went to the band's first concert of the weekend on Friday evening (July 1) and experienced a host of problems. The doors allegedly opened two hours late, leading to one of the support acts being cancelled. When the band eventually did come out, it was underwhelming to say the least.

She told MyLondon: "When Guns N' Roses finally came on the sound quality was absolutely appalling. The sound was muffled. You couldn’t distinguish vocals or individual instruments, especially Slash’s guitar solos which is one of the main features of the band. I couldn’t even tell what songs they were singing."

The band's singer Axl Rose acknowledged the technical issues but this did not lead to any improvements, Sam said. As a result, Sam and her partner Julian left early as it was "physically uncomfortable" for them to continue listening to the band's performance. They were not the only ones who left early, as Sam saw many others make an early exit. "We paid £300 for two tickets...We are looking to be refunded," she added.

Problems on both nights

The problems didn't end there, spilling over into yesterday's concert too. For Barry Newton, who said he's been to hundreds of gigs across the capital, the main problem was getting out of the stadium. He told MyLondon: "You had 50,000 people all heading...across London to overground lines so you can only imagine the chaos.

"The nearest roads around the stadium were closed to traffic which is sensible but then you hit live roads with the same volume of people and you then have pedestrians...meeting vehicles which is a recipe for disaster."

As for the concert itself, the band seemingly had the same sound woes as they did on the Friday night. As it was for Sam and Julian on Friday, the sound quality was incredibly poor, leaving Barry entirely unsatisfied. "There is no excuse in this day and age for poor sound at a concert...As much as I love this band I don’t think I would come to London again to see them or any other band at this venue," he said.

MyLondon has contacted Guns N' Roses management and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for comment.

Rocker Axl Rose slept at new £1billion Spurs stadium after falling ill between gigs

By Stephen Moyes

ROCK legend Axl Rose slept at the new £1billion Spurs stadium after falling sick between gigs.

The Guns N' Roses legend told fans he was too ill to return to London's 5-star Mandarin Hotel with the rest of the band.

On Saturday night's gig he was unable to hit the high notes of some of the group's biggest hits.

He explained why to the sell-out crowd.

He said he hadn't made it back to the hotel after falling ill the previous night, and on Friday evening slept at the home of Prem giants Tottenham.

Footage showed the 60-year-old Sweet Child Of Mine singer telling fans from the stage on Saturday: "I slept here last night…

"I'll be switching the songs around a little bit."

But fans at the sell-out show did not mind.

One said: “Axl was still awesome and rocked the joint.

"What a pro.”
