This is the interesting bit when he starts talking about when the next Tool album will come out:
"It's just out-of-control amazing. And what is really nice now, you don't have to be in a hurry to make a record now. Because people don't buy it. There is no record shops. So why the fuck put a record out? Just do what you want to do. And that is nice. It works both ways. People don't want to buy it, so you don't have to put it out. And when we do, we just relax and take our time...just like Guns, we don't care. We go out and play songs that people know, but we're not knocking ourselves out to release music. There's no need to that now, it's not the time and place."

Well, he's probably right that anything they would release wouldn't be a big seller (compared to the old numbers of 1991 etc.). But, among all the "occasional" fans at the gigs wanting nothing but old stuff, there are those who go to see more than one show in 4 years, they would appreciate a new song or two...@Soulmonster wrote:"...just like Guns, we don't care. It was obnoxious-feeling and frustrating to hear Chris say it but he is right.
What is the motivation for artists to release music for sale?
I can understand the the spike in ticket prices and the attraction of traveling festival shows with multiple bands sharing some expenses to improve the economics of it. I wonder where things are going too.
