The band Guns n' Roses is slated to go on tour early this October with a few U.S. tour dates thrown in aimed for later this fall. This would be their first live performance since December and first American tour since 2006.
Slowly but hopefully surely, tour dates are starting to come in for the American leg of the band Guns n' Roses' autumn tour. According to Rolling Stone, the group has only slated to play Orlando, Miami and Kansas City thusfar, but with a two-week break in between a couple of the dates plenty more are likely to come.
Guitarist DJ Ashba told Ultimate Classic Rock back in June that he was “itching to get out there.” At that point and time he also indicated that “one of our main big goals is to tour the States.”
With lead singer Axl Rose as its only remaining original member, the group hasn't performed live since Dubai back in September. However the band is kicking off the tour on a ten-date affair in Mexico and South America early in October.
Assuming the U.S. part of the tour even evolves into an actual circuit, this would be the group's first complete set of dates within America since 2006 reports Ultimate Classic Rock. At the time, numerous songs were added to the setlist, including the first live performances of "Don't Cry" since 1993.
In November 2008 the band released its first studio album, Chinese Democracy, after a delay lasting longer than a decade. As such there has been plenty of speculation as to whether a new album is in the works featuring songs that group wasn't able to put on the aforementioned record.
"We certainly did record a lot of stuff," bassist Tommy Stinson told Rolling Stone. "We recorded three records worth of material over the course of that 10-year period, but I think that a lot of the unfinished bits were mostly lyrics and mixes and things like that."
As far as an official word on a new album: "I'm not a liberty to talk about that," Stinson said. "I don't get into that aspect. That's Axl's business."
Guns n' Roses will be eligible for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction next year, assuming that "they get in on their first ballot." If they do, the ceremony which will be held this upcoming March will be the first time since drummer Steven Adler's departure in 1990 that the original line-up would share a stage.
Axl Rose has long said that "any sort of reunion with the classic lineup is impossible" even though guitarist Izzy Stradlin and bassist Duff McKagan played alongside Rose for a few songs in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
Even so, when it comes to the near-iconic original guitarist Slash, Rose bluntly pointed out a flat-out unwillingness to perform with him again. "In a nutshell, personally I consider him a cancer and better removed," Axl told Spinner in 2009. "The less anyone heard of him or his supporters the better."
The current tour dates for Guns n' Roses in the United States for 2011 so far are as follows:
October 28, 2011: Orlando, FL - Amway Center
October 29, 2011: Miami, FL - American Airlines Arena
November 12, 2011: Kansas City, MO - Sprint Center
