The heavy metal band GUNS N' ROSES sent a nasty-gram to St. Louis via its new record albums, and a local radio station plans to send the message right back.

The band, which police said helped touch off a disturbance July 2 at an amphitheatre in suburban St. Louis, mentioned the city, preceded by an obscenity, in a list of acknowledgements in the liner note of its new albums "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion ll'

"We've got to do something. We couldn't sleep at night if we didn't," said Terrence Travvick, who's known as Steve on the "Steve and D.C." show on WKBQ-FM.

The station intends to gather people together Tuesday to form an obscenity of its own — a giant hand with its middle finger extended, then send photographs of the formation to Guns N' Roses lead singer, Axl Rose, the group's record company and others, Trawick said.

Rose was charged in August with four counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of property damage in connection with the melee at Rive port Amphitheatre. No court date has been set.
