It seems we are sort of at a standstill in the world of GN'R now. The touring seems to be over and Axl has said he wants to "start looking very seriously at what we're doing [about releasing new music]. All band members seem to be free to do other things and Bumblefoot might even have quit the band. Of course, if the music is already recorded Axl can probably work on releasing it without the help of other band members, at least not for extra recording. How long until he has decided what to do and how long until he actually achieves it? Does he need to add extra vocals? Must be replace Bumblefoot parts with some other guitarist's parts? And then there are rumours about more touring in South America later this year. Will the same guys reconvene to play these shows (even Bumblefoot) or will there be replacements? How will this additional touring affect Axl's looking at releasing more music? Will this mean he won't really think about releasing until after the next touring or will he work like a beaver in-between the Vegas residency and the SA tour to decide what to do and even decide to play some new music in SA, to test forthcoming songs on a live audience? I feel we are sort of at a standstill or juncture and that important decisions are being made, not only about what we will get of new music but also about the constitution of the live band.

Nice write-up! Smile
Axl said an additonal album from the CD sessions was "already recorded" (possibly almost finished back in 2008, when CD was released, though not even sure if Bumblefoot is on many of those recordings?)...
Howevere we can imagine that negotiations with the label and ex-members and all that could still take a while.
Band is on hiatus with no new shows announced yet. The Bluray is doing well (making it to No. 1 on the billboard chart for videos)!

To answer your question "what's next?":
Do you know where you are? Cinema Info on Appetite for Democracy screenings outside the U.S. coming soon.
(from GNR Facebook)

As for all the other questions raised: we just don't know. Axl may be on a well-deserved holiday (after all the touring) or he might really be "looking at" what/how/when the next release should be...  Blanco

Bumblefoot is on Atlas Shrugged, at least, and probably more songs. But of course, as I type this, Axl may be erasing his parts Very Happy

I just hope Axl really start thinking about the next record and even decides to test out a few songs during the tour in SA (if it actually happens). Playing some new songs would really be a strong signal that a new record is coming...although it could still be many years until we get it.

Let's put it like this: Axl may be on the phone telling the producer/engineer to erase those parts...  Wink

On the prospect of a new GnR album, Bumblefoot says the individual band members are so busy with their own work, it may be a while before any new material sees the light of day.

He says: "We are all on break and everyone is off touring. Richard Fortus and Dizzy Reed are off touring with The Dead Daisies. DJ Ashba is readying to release his next album. Tommy Stinson is playing with The Replacements and I am finishing up my new solo album. Axl is just kicking back and enjoying life. Well, I hope so anyway."
